What we do
Our activities are a mixture of fund raising and practical hands on action for the local and international communities. Examples of local charities we have sponsored are Mercy Ships, Little Haven, Children Hospice, Riding for the Disabled, and Queen Victoria Seamen’s Rest.
Our main annual project is the Dragon Boat festival, which we run during May each year at the Docklands Sailing Centre. Apart from a great day out, this is the club’s main fundraiser for the year. Furthermore, at the London Marathon we help to marshal runners though the Poplar, Canary Wharf and Isle of Dogs area.
Our international project currently is helping the public schools in Ecaudor. The Rotary Club of Guayaquil together with their Rotaract Club are putting together an IT class room with computers and networks (basic equipment) and they are teaching basic computing skills to high school kids. The project will reach over 5,000 kids by 2008.
